About
Stian is a 84-model computer science student living in Bergen, Norway. He should currently be working on his visualization master thesis, but nobody knows what he’s actually doing right now. His main interests when it comes to computer science are visualization and parallel stuff (CUDA, Cell, large clusters..). He used to have a big thing for algorithms, but somehow the visual results of visualization was much more pleasing than stupid recurrence relations, O-notations and formulas.
Stian enjoys computer stuff and is an old linux guy that has recently given up fighting and switched to OS X for most desktop needs, he also works part-time for a voip-company – developing an asterisk based ippbx for small/medium sized companies.
Stian is also a pentaxian, and when he’s not working or trying to motivate himself to study he likes to walk around with his oversized pentax dslr (k10d with batterygrip and too many lenses) and shoot pointless pictures. He has a heavy case of LBA (lens-buying-addiction), which can be quite taxing on his economy.
Watching movies is one of his favorite activities and too many hours have probably been spent in front of his now outdated HDTV and B&W surround setup. He is a big fan of Tarantino, particularly Pulp Fiction.
When Stian wants to get away and take a break from all distracting technology – then he likes to take long hikes, preferably in areas without any cellular coverage (so that his boss can’t get hold of him when something goes wrong at work). Somehow walking around (preferably with a fishing rod) listening to birds and roaring rivers make him happy. He has a personal goal of visiting all national parks (on the mainland) in Norway at least once during his life, which is an increasingly difficult task because they are made faster than he can visit them..
